Find the right volunteer opportunity to match your time and talents

We want your volunteer experience at CUNY Startups to be a meaningful opportunity, help grow your skills,  and allow networking . To help you find the right volunteer opportunity for you, we’ve classified our volunteer openings by TIME and TYPE.

Time Commitment

Small Acts

 Take a few minutes to create a positive experience for others

Examples: Complete a survey; test a prototype, provide user feedback on a website or app

Regular Acts

Provide recurring contributions that make CUNY Startups possible

Examples: Serve on a committee, become a CUNY Startups Ambassador, serve as a mentor, be a judge in a competition, review student idea submissions

Lasting Acts

Enhance leadership skills for yourself and others

Examples: Become an executive mentor, chair a committee, help build new programs

Types of Opportunities

Virtual Mentor

Mentor students virtually through our online platform

Details: Mentor students in our accelerator and idea competition programs. Our programs run during fall and spring semesters.

Judge

Judge competitions

Details: All of our programs commence with a competition. Judges score student presentations.

In Person Mentor

Mentor students at our Baruch College center

Details: All accelerator program mentors are part of a mentor team led by an Executive Mentor. Once a week mentors come to our entreprenurship center and meet with student startup teams.

Reviewer

Virtually review student ideas for our annual CUNY Clash competition

Details: CUNY Clash is a multiple rounds, ideas competition for CUNY students. You would review and score student submissions.

Executive Mentor

Serve as the lead mentor for a team of mentors

Details: Lead a team of mentors as they mentor student startups and serve as an advisor. EM’s also check in with startup teams to make sure that their needs are being met.
